What is your take on the company? How are you connected with Lia Sophia (adviser, party host, customer, etc). Can I really make money? Do I get charged shipping when a customer buys jewelry? Do I have to constantly buy new jewelry with each season? What about finding people to host me? Anything else I should know?
I am a Unit Manager and have been with the company for one year. I have had a positive experience and believe anyone who works at it can make money at this business. The customer pays for shipping, a flat rate per order that is very reasonable. The company does an incentive to help advisors receive jewelry from each new collection (released twice a year) at a fraction of the retail price. The outlay of cash for jewelry can be minimal, it is up to you. There is a program to help you start and think of who will do a party for you. I recommend that you pick a good team to join, one with supportive management that can help you start your business strong. I feel fortunate to be on a team that has a zone manager in the same city. The training that she provides for us has truly made a difference in my business.
Hey everyone,
For a dance I borrowed one of my sisters necklaces, and broke it. Now she’s asking for it back, but I don’t want to give her just the broken one, I’d like to buy her the same one so she can still have that necklace. I’m pretty sure Lia Sophia doesn’t make this necklace anymore because I can’t find it on their site, I don’t even know the name. But it’s a little longer than a choker, and it has a lot of different colored flowers on it, with a lot of sparkles. The center flower is pink, and it’s the largest, the other flowers gradually get smaller. If any one has a friend or family member that works for Lia Sophia, or if you think you know someone who has this necklace, please have them contact me! I’ll pay shipping and everything! Thank you soooo much!

P.S. Just have them e-mail me at nikkydalby@yahoo.com
If you can’t find it, tell the truth. She’ll be a little upset at first, but she’ll be glad that you told the truth. Remember, DON’T lie. Good luck on finding it!
I am hosting a Lia Sophia Jewelry party and wanted to get party favors for my guests.. ya know, since the more jewelry they buy, the more I get for free. So I thought it would be nice to get them a little something as a thank you. It’s a bunch of girls, well women. Basically ranging from 20 years old to about 50. Does any one have any ideas for a nice party favor? Preferably one that is jewelry related. And one that isn’t that expensive.
thanks
While a nice idea, truly not necessary. Just make sure to spike the punch and tell everyone how lovely they look with the jewelry!
I recently bought some Lia Sophia jewelry and I don’t like the quality and would like to return it. Will my sales advisor lose their commission if I do this? Since I have to return it directly to the company, will my advisor even know that I returned something? What about the party hostess?
I’m so sorry that you were not happy with the quality of the items that you purchased. Do you think there would be something else that would suit you better? You could exchange your items at no charge if it has been less than 120 day from the date of purchase.
All returns do show up in the advisor’s Order Status que once they have been processed so she will know that you returned the items. And if you return an item within 45 days of purchase for your money back – yes the advisor will lose her commission and have to pay back the company the commission she had received on your order. If you exchange for something else she will not have to payback the commission.
The hostess will not be affected at all and won’t have to give back the free jewelry that she received from your purchase.
Let me know if you have further questions!

Lia Sophia is nice looking jewerly, but it is so expensive! I can not help but notice how much they are willing to give away to start- up demonstrators and to hostesses! Maybe if they gave less away, hostesses in the long run could make more sales. Meaning..maybe the selling prices woudl be lower and therefore more affordable! Seems to me that sooner or later everyone will want to be a hostess or a demonstrator just to get the free merchandise and then there will be no one left to actually purchase the stuff. Just irritating!
Wow…first of all Lia Sophia isn’t really like the nicest jewelry you can buy. It’s like costume, dress-up jewelry. And the only reason it’s expensive is because it’s not worth the cost. But really…the direct sales business gives you the opportunity to get your girlfriends together for a party and you earn free stuff. Does the girl at the counter at Target get free jewelry when she rings up your necklace??? Where else do you get that opportunity??? The whole design of the business is for you to purchase some and then be able to have a party to get some for free. And if you don’t like free jewelry then there’s always the jewelry counter at Macy’s or Sears. They sell jewelry, too. Happy shopping! =)
I ordered about $350 worth of this crap and sorry to say it it horrible! The catalogs make a lot of the pieces look much better than they really are. The gold pieces are a joke and could not look faker. For $130 I expected the piece to somewhat look real.My finger have ALREADY turned green from the rings which I have only had for one week. I am better off buying rings at Charlotte Russ at the price of 2 for $8. I do own REAL jewelry and know how to care for it, this is just ridiculous. They get you to buy it by saying how great it is and it is lifetime guaranteed. Well it better be for the high prices they charge. I payed for $52 dollars for a ring that has turned my finger green in less than a week! Is this common with Lia Sophia?? Bottom line is the prices are way too high for what it really is, and that’s pieces of crap! The trouble and annoyance to "Book a Party" and have a party worth AT LEAST $250 in sales was all too much. This was not a fun little jewelry party, more a HUGE hassle. I expected to get together with my gf’s socialize and buy what ever we please…not to be told that "I HAVE TO SELL $250" worth of jewelry to even be considered a party and to get my "discounted hostess items"…which were WAY over priced as it is. Bottom line is the jewelry is CRAP! It’s basically a huge scam that was a waste of my time.
Well my question to you mcookietoo is what you would define as petty?? Rings bought less than a week ago (so-called high quality) worn for a total of maybe 5 HRS a few nights a week are expected to turn my fingers green? I don’t wash dishes with them, Idon;t bathe my son in them, shit I don;t even cook with them! I wear them to go out in.
Isn’t so much as that expected?? I mean what are you telling me this is normal?
Again may I add my wedding ring never so much as did this and I am pretty sure that is (high quality) lol. As I hardly EVER take that off and it remains beautiful! As for your guarente, again like I have stated WHO THE HELL CARES if it is CRAP…lol. I can return CRAP for the rest of my life and get some more CRAP in the mail….lol The bottom line is the items are not that great! As for my hostess she was a joke. This is her first year into it as she has stated many times. At least know what your are selling is all I can say. Know the policies and so on…
As for my advisor..I had to take the time to close the sale at her home. I had to waste my time, gas and so on to come to her. She did absolutely nothing except come to my home ONCE for a total of I believe 3hours out of her life. I don’t care how "large" my show is, the bottom line is you show the same amount of decency in my home. If 5 people are in my living room, I expect the same attitude and procedure that I saw at the previous shows. You know, the things I did like that made me want to book one in the first place. I saw nothing of the sort. Not being givin my hostess bonus that I picked out at the previous show pissed me off from the start. All being said she was indeed new and not very bright. I would hope there are much better advisors for your company out there. After all of that in the closing of the sale, the adding by my her was done incorrectly and she basically expected me to drive to her home AGAIN to give her the rest of the money!!
I’ll probably get banned for writing this but when someone posts such inflamatory things, the flip side deserves to be heard. You know, I’m really getting a laugh reading your complaints and the others on the complaint board. Most are so petty and uniformed that it’s a joke. I have repped for LS for 5 yrs, after messing with several other companies unsuccessfully, and never had complaints like these. First of all, the catalog NEVER does the jewelry justice and that is said by every person I’ve ever dealt with. Next, the gold is REAL GOLD, 14-24K, electroplated over a base metal. The yellower it is, the higher K it is. I was told this by a jeweler. If you don’t like the look, SEND IT BACK! The guarantee is UNCONDITIONAL. So, that being said, the only thing touching your skin (if it’s the gold or silver tone) is gold or rhodium (platinum family), which will not in itself turn your finger green due to quality. It means you have a high acid content (stress, toxins, food, etc.) and should remove all jewelry and flush by drinking lots of water for at least 3 days to flush it out, then try it again. I do at least 40 shows a year with medical professionals and this is what they tell me. If you had a rep worth her salt, she would have explained to you that this is FASHION JEWELRY, meant to be worn with your fashions, not 24/7, not while cleaning, swimming, bathing, using personal care products like hair spray and cologne…these will mar the finish and sparkle of the finest jewelry but also will wear the gold/rhodium off to the base metal. We pride ourselves on using more layers of real gold than most jewelry retailers. Our guarantee is one of the very few in the industry that is truly unconditional except that you need proof of purchase, is that too much to ask for a lifetime? Are we to guarantee a piece you may have gotten/won free by playing a game? Postage is free for 4 months, after that it’s a buck and a half to mail, and the $5 charge is replaced with credit. As for high prices, I agree it’s not cheap, what quality is? But then if it were, would they be able to guarantee replacement for a lifetime? Would they be able to pay the woman out there traveling from home to home and to meetings and rallys and conferences to learn to be a professional? Remember also that you are supporting other women in their efforts to be self-sufficient, right on up the line, down the line too. Each and every piece of LS jewelry is hand made and hand assembled. Each and every stone is set or glued by hand. Sure, the more stones involved, the greater the chance of losing one, hence the guarantee. BTW, our stones are genuine as well so will never cloud or lose their sparkle like your Charlotte Russ 2/$8. As for a $250 show needed to obtain hostess benefits…that’s another laugh. I’ve probably had 5 shows out of 1000 I’ve done that didn’t qualify. Did you really expect that woman to work that evening for nothing? Leave her family home, pay the gas, do the work, for twenty bucks? Our average show is close to $800 and that Advisor pays the same for your little show’s benefits as she does the $1000 shows and makes a heckuva lot more while providing yet another woman with an extraordinary amount of free and reduced jewelry. Yes, she does pay for you to get your Hostess Benefits but can only do that if you put enough effort into getting the guests there to reach a measly $250 (orders avg. $75 each, so 3 guests might do it). She’s not just there for your entertainment…although the show should be fun for all involved. I know mine are so I certainly don’t have to beg for future bookings. Sometimes it’s hard to make a show fun if the hostess and guests have an attitude though, and it sounds like that poor woman had a lot to deal with the night of your show! You probably discouraged her right out of business. If you want real quality, go buy a piece of Tiffany, lock it in a safe and wear it only for good. When a stone falls out 10 years from now, if you ever wear it, see if they’ll give you a new one. Please do us all a favor and never host another direct sales party until you lighten up. It really is meant to be fun.
I just started my lia sophia business (jewelry) about a month ago! I talked with family and friends and I got 9 of them to host a show for me! Great…but most of them will invite the same ones so Im not really growing my business there as much as I would like anyway! Any Ideas on ways to get more bookings! What has worked for you?? Also ways to generate more sales and recruits also!! Thanks in advance..any suggestions are appreciated I want my business to become more than I can ever dream!!
I am in the process of getting our guidelines as far as ad in my local paper and that is something I really want to do and as far ebay that is against our contract but would be nice lol!! And I am trying to put business cards out with a discount on their first order with an expiration date of 8/31/09 so hopefully that will help generate some new leads!! Thanks for your insight!!!
What are some incentives you offer for future bookings??
i know people personally would have done AMAZING with lia sophia and on average my shows so far are about 800 to 900 hundred dollars in sales!!! with one to two bookings! I just want several ideas to mix in there and change it up a bit!!!
Studies have shown that 99% of all "reps" selling Lia Sophia lose money during their career. The company knows this but they don’t tell you that your chance of success is almost zero. Everyone focuses on the 1% who are the "superstars".
Once you have sold to your friends and family, you are now competing with the 10,000 pieces of jewelry in every shopping center. One Target store alone has 2,000 pieces of jewelry in stock.
At some point you have to go door-to-door to get new customers. The return on that effort is less than 1 on 1,000. That is the only way to get more bookings, though.
I am looking for how much start up is and any other information (ie. are you required to keep stocked products, what is the commissions, etc.) I just want to compare so that I can make a knowledgeable choice if I decide to go with one. I’ve worked in direct sales before (BeautiControl) which I still love the products, but just want a change of pace. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Please feel free to email me if you can’t answer publicly.
Hi my name is Corrie. I joined the lia sophia family in Nov. of 2006! I LOVE IT!!! The quality of lia sophia is fantastic and it is backed by our lifetime replacement guarantee! I did research other direct sales companies before I signed with lia sophia & I used to work in a high end jewelry store. I was sold on the low start up cost, (the kits comes with over $1000 in jewelry and all the supplies you need to get started), 70% off anything in the catalog, the excellent beginnings program which gives you another $600 in free jewelry..your choice!, the fact that you start out making 30% profit on show sales right off the bat… average shows being $750 makes for a great paycheck. Plus you will give yourself a raise of 10% more when you promote to manager after just 3 people signing under you & then also make 10% on what they sell…it only gets better from there! Yes the company sends us a paycheck or you can have it direct deposited (we get paid weekly). I love it this way…I don’t have to try to keep track of my income. The company is always giving us incentives to earn free jewelry, which of course only helps your business grow. Another thing that sold me on the company is that they do not just take care of the hostess or the customer or the advisor…they take care of us all! I’ve already told you some of the ways that they take care of the advisor. We have an awesome hostess plan..up to 40% of show totals free, 4 items, valued at $100 or less for only $15, & 1/2 price items! The customers get great deals too… for every 3 items purchase, your 3rd(not the least but the most expensive) item is 1/2 price! And then to top it off lia sophia is always coming out with extra specials each month! Plus, celebrities like Kate Welch, Hilary Duff,Raven Symone, Eva Longoria, and yes even Snoop Dogg, plus many more wear our jewelry. To tell you the truth…I could go on & on about lia sophia. I have grown in leaps & bounds…not only financially. I have gained new friendships, confidence in my self & a less stressful life. Plus, I can’t wait to go to Hawaii in April 2008…compliments of lia sophia! Please visit my website for more info…I have not even begun to tell you all the great things this company can offer. Please contact me if you need any more information about this or any other business. Like I said, I research some others and I might be able to help save you some time in the searching dept. Oh, by the way, our jewelry is either 14kt-24kt gold plated or rhodium plated (this is in the platinum family). The reason lia sophia does this is 1.) to make it more affordable to their customers & 2.) so that it will remain to look as good as the day that you bought it…it will not tarnish. The other reason I love this feature it because my daughter, as many other people I know, is severly allergic to most jewelry. She break out in a rash and her ears swell up and get infected within an hour of wearing other pieces. We instantly fell in love with lia sophia when we realized that she could wear it! I have had lots of other customers tell me this too…they are so excited that they finally found some jewelry that they can wear! Now they can sparkle and be glamorous like everyone else!!! YEAH!!!
I’m a lia sophia jewelry advisor. I’m looking to send out a bulk advertisment. Where can I get a mailing list or email list for free or that’s inexpensive?
